The driving forces of metabolic programming

Obesity arose, among other things, from an imbalance between socio-economic society and our biological make-up. In this thesis, we dive into a concept associated with the prevention of obesity, rather than trying to treat it when it is already there. We tested this concept in preclinical studies using mice. In several experiments we looked at how we could model obesity in these animals. In the mice with a high probability of developing obesity later in life, we were able to apply an early (nutritional) intervention in several experiments to see if we could reduce this predisposition ('disposition') to develop obesity .
